
Sacramento knows the key to my heart -> 32 miles of trail by the river. The American River Bike Trail (or the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail) is one of the longest paved trails in the country.
Even in the “winter” with 45*F and barren trees it was still beautiful.
There are also a lot of side dirt paths for walkers/runners only but since I was by myself I stayed on the paved trail for my 4-mile run. This map shows all the parking entrances, key landmarks, horse trails, fishing spots etc. The pictures above are by mile marker 5.
