During a yoga class last week, I tried Eka Pada Galavasana (One-legged balance or Flying crow) for the first time and realized I can lift myself off and balance if I keep my knee bent. So now I’ve incorporated it into my personal practice so I can build up the skill into a straight one-legged balance.
Yoga Journal has a great explanation of the pose and some suggested warm-up poses to do before hand. I wouldn’t suggest trying this until you can do Crane/Crow Pose (Bakasana).
So far I’ve only fallen on my face once in my quest for full Eka Pada Galavasana, though there will probably be more. I am feeling fearless and inspired by a week of level 3 yoga classes.
