Running tour of North Carolina (part 5) – Charlotte

Mallard Creek Greenway

Mallard Creek Greenway

Last stop, Charlotte the Queen City! With less than a week until my marathon I capped Sunday morning’s run to 5 miles on the Mallard Creek Greenway. The connecting Mallard and Clarks Creek Greenways make for a total of 7 miles that take you through a floodplain forest, University Research Park, UNC Charlotte and Kirk Farm Park. Even though at one point the trail goes underneath a major highway, I was pleasantly surprised that the entire time you feel like you’re away from the city and in nature.

My original plan was to rank all the trails and cities at the end of my trip but I loved them all so the winner is…… North Carolina State. Thank you NC for being awesome and full of wonderful trails.
